This was my first time being a Maid of Honor! Shannon and I went to middle school together. She was actually in my brother's class and we didn't really become close friends until we were both in college, but we've known each other almost all of our lives!
There was so much planning that went into a number of events for this - a bridal shower in NJ, a bachelorette in SC and the wedding in NJ. Shannon's Mom worked with me on the bridal shower, which took place at one of my favorite restaurants! I got to print out a bunch of fun bridal shower games, setup a mimosa bar and make sure that we took lots of pictures.
The bachelorette was a combination bachelor/bachelorette party as requested by the bride and groom. They decided on Charleston, SC as the location because Shannon had heard all about the city from me, but never got the chance to visit while I was in college! I booked a big house that wasn't too far from the main downtown and got to work on goodie bags for everyone. I made custom tank tops for us all and came up with their wedding hashtag, #theSSNotaro. The weather didn't cooperate fully, so we missed out on our beach day. But a group did go do a ropes course and another group went to do an escape room. There were lots of shenanigans to be had in the city and we made sure to find a bunch of them.
The wedding took place at a country club in NJ and the bridal party got to stay on site, which meant that there were multiple after parties once the reception was over. Shannon looked absolutely gorgeous + Sam couldn't take his eyes off of her. I was increibly nervous for my Maid of Honor speech, but everyone said that I nailed. I had brought my chambongs to the wedding and we made sure that the bartenders only let the bridal party and a few select people use them. This was the most active group of wedding guests that I have ever seen - everyone was dancing up until the very last minute, except for food + drink breaks.
I LOVE this couple and spend a lot of my time planning more ways that we can all hang out! Thank God that we only live about two hours from each other. <3
