Kalyn + Gabe - Asheville, NC

Updated: 3 days ago

Kalyn was my upstairs neighbor my senior year of college. My roommate, Reina, and I were both incredibly outgoing and made quick friends with Kalyn and Gabe. We would often hear the two of them running around upstairs and run up to see what was going on, only to see them chasing each other with paintbrushes and being a mess.

Reina, my college roommate) was also a bridesmaid with me for this wedding. I helped Stephanie (in the darkest purple dress), the maid of honor, with some of the planning for the bachelorette party. This was another wedding that I had to travel to - this time I was living in Richmond, VA and the festivities were in Asheville, NC.

We started the bachelorette party at the hotel with goodie bags and treats. I had crafted a makeshift Instagram cardboard filter for us to take with us on our bachelorette activities. We all got ready together to go do an escape room as the first part of the festivities. While I had done a few escape rooms myself, I was not expecting to be blindfolded and handcuffed to a bed frame once we entered the room..... All of the other girls definitely had some thoughts of "What did Vicky just get us into?!". We got out of the handcuffs and blindfolds pretty quickly, but sadly didn't escape the room in time. I think that even though we didn't break out, everyone had a great time.

From the escape room, we all headed to dinner at a French restaurant that Kalyn chose. The food was delicious and we all got some energy for the rest of the night. We headed next to the SkyBar, a rooftop bar with views of the city, for our first few drinks. We found another bar that offered snacks with each drink purchase. The fun part was that when you purchased a drink, you received a key that opened a door where a snack was kept. We had a little bit too much checking out the snack options! We finished up the night with some dancing at a club until all of our feet were so tired that we had to quit. The Instagram sign didn't make it to the end of night.

The next morning, we had a bridal brunch where all of the ladies wore the custom tank tops that I had made for us. This was a wild weekend because this day was also the wedding day!! We were all staying on site at the location of the wedding, a cute mountaintop! We had a wonderful time taking photos, trying not to cry at the couple's vows and then chowing down on some great BBQ at the reception. Reina + I even ended up cutting the cake for everyone somehow! Post-reception, we all got to get comfy and hang around a bonfire with drinks and friends.
